Aged or Distressed pickguards: Our distressed pickguards listed below
were added to compliment our distressed bodies.
If you choose to purchase one of our distressed pickguards or have a
very old pickguard, please note
the following: Don't use guitar polish or other liquids, including water,
on vintage or aged plastic or hardware. Polish should be sprayed on
a soft cloth, not directly on the guitar. Aged plastics will acquire
gray smudges if hands are dirty, sweaty or wet. We recommend having
clean, dry hands when installing your pickguard, pickup covers &
knobs or doing any work on the guitar.
Aged pickguards are not waterproof- A 30 year old vintage pickguard would also not be waterproof. The player's wear, grit, grime, dirt and smoke stains would clean up with water or cleaner if that's what a person wanted to do. Fender Road Worn guitar replacement pickguards: Any of the 1 ply, 8 screw hole pickguards listed below will work. |

Why
buy Gregg Rogers guitar bodies? Our goal is to provide a handmade
USA product with the best qualities of a vintage guitar. We start with
alder boards, made from Pacific Northwest grown trees, sawn, planed
and kiln dried at a local mill. Each body is bench made individually
to provide the vintage vibe. Our guitar bodies are not clones of "Reissues"
nor are they cookie-cutter CNC aftermarket products. They are manufactured
based on knowledge gleaned from our personal experience, 20 years in
the retail music business, including repairing, refinishing and restoring
dozens of 1950 and 1960's guitars. We don't claim to be "experts"
nor to know everything there is about vintage guitars. Our blueprints
for the guitar bodies we sell were established by taking measurements
from original Fender guitar bodies that came through our shop for restoration
or refinishing. The originals were made before the advent of computerized
equipment. Many interesting discoveries were found after stripping old
guitars, besides variations in wood, weight, shape and other specs,
we once uncovered a 7 piece Strat body and often found different types
of wood imperfections, some filled with putty. Fender was very thrifty
back in the old days.

Differences
between the 50's style body and the 60's. The 1960's style alder
guitar body is pictured on the left and in the closeup of the control
cavity and bottom pickup. Basic outside shape is same size (camera angle
below makes them appear different sizes, but they're the same) 60's
control cavity has an extra bump to allow for an add'l pickup screw
hole in that area. The worm hole in the bottom pickup routing has an
"L" shape. The 1950's style has a straighter worm hole and
the smoother shape of the control cavity routing is made for an 8 hole
pickguard. On the back, the side cut on the 1950's goes higher up on
the horn and the cut is further in toward the center and is a little
more exaggerated..
